Physical Appearance: 5 Foot 10 Inches, 157, Hazel eyes(gold/brown mix) Brown hair, receding slightly, No unusual marks or scars (unless you count the half moon on his ass) He carries scraps of paper in his pockets with numbers on them he can’t get up the courage to call, his nose looks like it might have been broken at one time or another.

Past job experience: Worked for L.A Crime lab for a brief period, prior to that he worked for a private lab doing Drug testing and research, but the research is classified. Other than that he worked his way through college in a pizza joint and several Hamburger stands.

Detailed background information: Born and raised in the Midwest. No siblings, Parents both deceased. They died before David graduated High school. Killed by a drunk driver. He was always a quiet boy, not many friends. He tended to hang around with the teachers, always looking for extra work. He went to college at Notre Dame, took Chemistry and Physics, Advanced Calculus. That is where he met his future wife Helen Parker Brooks. They dated exclusively and then were married shortly after graduation. Helen went with him when he started work in the Los Angeles area, but between the long hours at the lab, and then the long hours spent working for the Crime Lab, problems developed in the marriage and she divorced him, left him for the neighbor’s pool man. She is still happily enjoying the money David pays her in Alimony. The betrayal left David bitter and he started to develop an attitude. This attitude caused friction at work and was asked to seek counseling. He ended up resigning his position in the LA Crime lab, taking a transfer to the Las Vegas Crime Lab.

Psychologically: I use my attitude to keep people at a distance. I am afraid of being vulnerable, of people getting too close. The closer they get, the better chance I have of getting hurt. I am not afraid to be wrong, but I’ll be damned if I will let another person point out my flaws. I tend to be bitter, sarcastic, and heedless of other’s feelings. The shrinks have yet to figure out if it is because of my parents death or the divorce. Maybe it is some sort of chemical imbalance. I am not on an mood altering medications.

Marital Status: Divorced. Ex wife Helen Parker Brooks. She took back her maiden name.
Orientation: I choose to not categorize Hodges here. He was married and divorced once. He and his ex-wife are not on speaking terms. He never knows where a situation will take him, or how a person will move him, so he just goes with the flow.

Hobby(ies) away from work: Hodges like to play the Trumpet, and he collects spoons from different places. He was entertaining the idea of taking pottery classes.

Writing Sample: David Hodges surveyed his kingdom, the Trace Lab. His subjects were few but loyal. He commanded all that he ruled with firmness and fairness. His royal subjects would come by and lavish him with paper folders containing plastic bags filled with goodies. When they came to him unannounced, seeking advise and counsel he dismisses them with his royal decree. “I didn’t Page you.”

Hodges held onto the test results for the fibers that Nick had dropped off regarding his case. He had paged Nick, but he was no where to be seen. Hodges hovered in the doorway, hoping to catch Grissom on one of his many passes down the corridor outside the Trace lab. Sure enough, he was headed in David’s direction, head buried in a case file. Hodges waited until he was closer, and watched as Grissom walked right past him, unaware that Hodges had been standing there. David debates whether or not to chase the man, decided not to, heaves a sigh of disappointment, and returns to his station to wait for Nick.
